OpenMandriva ROME 23.08 (and a glimpse of OMLx 5.0)

The OpenMandriva Team is pleased to offer new ROME 23.08 install images.
These ISOs are also to be considered as upcoming OMLx 5.0 Release Candidate.
A Plasma 6 Technical Preview (cooker) install media is provided as well.

OpenMandriva Lx is a unique Linux distribution. It is fully independently developed, hence not based on any other.
OpenMandriva is the first distro ever built with Clang, starting with OMLx 3.x development cycle in early 2016, even before Android switched its compilers.

ROME is the rolling release designed mostly for individual users, it will receive the most up to date packages including recent security and bug fix upgrades.

Images and platform support

ROME 23.08 Plasma5 Desktop x86_64 and znver1 architecture
ROME 23.08 server centric images without GUI (also released as qcow2 images for virtualization)
Images for various aarch64 based devices, such as Raspberry Pi 4 and 400, Rock 5B, Rock Pi 4, and Ampere servers. RISC-V support is currently being developed.
The Plasma ’Slim’ ISO images offer a minimal Plasma5 environment and leave the users free to install what they really need.
LXQt, Plasma 6 Preview and Gnome Desktop spins
Spins: Desktop alternatives backed by the community. These versions are majorly maintained by their respective maintainers. All assistance is appreciated, though bug-fixing isn’t an immediate priority.

Any big issues should get a bug report.

You can get in touch real time with our developers at IRC channel #openmandriva-cooker at Libera Chat and #openmandriva-cooker:matrix.org in matrix.

Please note:
The ’Update channel’ set to Rolling. That means these ISOs use rolling repositories.
Repositories should never be mixed.
To enable/disable additional repositories we have OpenMandriva own tool Software Repository Selector (om-repo-picker).
